The Saunders Report

The Saunders Report is an online news platform that informs, enlightens and entertains. Barry Saunders is a Rockingham native and Richmond Senior High grad who has been a journalist for 38 years. He began with The Atlanta Constitution and has fascinated readers of the Richmond County Daily Journal in Rockingham, The Robeson Record in Lumberton, N.C., the Post-Tribune in Gary, Ind. and The News & Observer in Raleigh, N.C. He once published his own newspaper, the Richmond County North Star, in Rockingham. Saunders claims to have been the best 12th man on his Raider basketball team and to have won the 6th grade spelling bee in Mrs. Edna Robinson's class at Leak Street School (when the smart kids were on a field trip to Gaddy's Geese Farm). That same year he famously called WAYN's Jim Smith and pretended to be principal J.C. Watkins asking if the snow would cause school closings. We at WAYN hope you enjoy your connection to the life and opinions of one of the foremost journalism products of Richmond County.
